Once there was a king 4 February 2022: Raaj Mata tells the guard not to let anyone stone eyed man into the palace. She prays that today’s royal celebration must end without any problem.Rana ji joined his hands at the reception to welcome the guests. He whispers to Gayatri that he is apologizing her, she took the wrong meaning of everything. Rana ji introduces her to Raja Vajendra Singh, and to his younger sister Surishni or Surmi. Surmi complains that he didn’t invite her to his wedding.
Rana ji says he had sent the invitation but her brother was really busy with his works. Gayatri appreciates Surmi, Surmi presents her a gift. Gayatri says Youngers only take gifts. Surmi says it must be considered her love for her brother, as Gayatri has brought happiness in Rana ji’s life. She presents her with a pearl and says the one who wears a true pearl always win the love and game. Vajendra tells Rana ji to find a prince for Surmi. Rana ji notices the worry on her face and welcomes them inside. Rana ji says to Gayatri Surmi wasn’t happy on the matter of marriage.
Gayatri says may be royal people are never happy to get married. Rana ji says it is the first day of the year, he doesn’t want to fight with her at the end of the year. Gayatri says she never wants to fight with him, but there is no mistake of his in this. Rajeshwari heard this, she thinks she can fire this argument and give her brother a New Year gift.A young kid kisses on Gayatri’s cheek and takes a laddu. Gayatri takes another kiss from him and gives him two more. His mother comes to take her son away.Rajeshwari comes to Gayatri, Gayatri says she and her brother have started to get defeated, she will start to learn again. Rajeshwari says she has leaned never to get defeated from the losing.
The guards tell Raaj Mata that someone wants to enter the celebration with one stoned eye. Raaj Mata watches the man and welcomes him inside apologizing for the inconvenience. She says Sartaj’s eye can put a bad eye on Gayatri, Rana ji and Amirkot. She won’t let her here.
Gayatri prepares for aarti and tells Surmi that there is a trend in their family that on the New Year eve a princess puts tillak on Rana ji. Surmi appreciates Gayatri. Gayatri goes to take a plate for Surmi as well. Rajeshwari comes and tells Surmi her brother is calling her. Surmi is worried that she can’t get married. Rajeshwari mixes spice with the Sindoor and says today Rana ji will feel the same fire as her brother does while watching them together.
Gayatri was about to put the tillak on, Rana ji says he wants her to do her tillak with something else. It was the soil of Amirkot that will remind him of his responsibility towards Amirkot. Rajeshwari thinks she won’t accept the defeat.Gayatri watches Surmi cutting her wrist vein, she stops her and asks what she is doing. Surmi says no one is ready to understand her, her brothers love her and wants to do anything for her, but they never consider who she is happy with. She only knows she will be happy with Kartik. It’s right he is an ordinary man, he has no money and doesn’t live in palace but his heart is pure.
He can even sacrifice his life for her, but for her brother’s only money matters. She says Kartik is her life, how can one spend their life without their soul. Gayatri says neither the world could recognize love, nor love could recognize the world. She says she isn’t a Rajput but Rana ji accepted her. She confesses that she also didn’t get her love easily, Rana ji hated her but still she didn’t accept defeat. She fought her fate in life. Surmi says she isn’t as courageous, Gayatri takes her along. Surmi’s brother come to spot her, the wonder where has Surmi gone, what if she creates a drama here again.
Gayatri makes Surmi sit and says she has met her for the first time, but her relation seems to be old. Rana ji considers her a friend and wants to give her something. She goes to take the idol and brings it for Surmi. She says since childhood whenever there was a problem, Goddess have shown her path. When one doesn’t know where life is taking, one must go on the path Goddess takes her. Everything will be alright. She takes Surmi out.Brothers come to take Surmi to meet with a prince. Surmi says she doesn’t want to meet anyone. Gayatri says they must have a right with Surmi’s life but she herself also have right over her life.
Her brothers say that Surmi is a child right now, she doesn’t understand anything. Rana ji seconds Gayatri saying sometimes elders don’t understand how good a decision the Youngers have taken for themselves. He says when love is true no relation is a mistake then. Rajeshwari thinks they have again started to smile looking at each other. She wonders if Avdesh got his answers.In the celebration, the drummers arrive with girls dancing. Gayatri comes for performance, Rana ji takes the drum. Both perform. Kartik arrives at the event with a drum in hand and face covered in veil. Surmi is worried to see her.
Rana ji brings Gayatri out blindfolded, she asks what he is doing. He asks her to look behind at the cart, kneels down and says if marrying her was a mistake it was the most beautiful one, he would love to repeat such mistake every life. He kisses her hand, both smile. Rana ji confirms if he has been forgotten. Gayatri nods, both hug each other. He says they will go to Pooja to Kul Devi Mandir. He says they will be back and at the time of New Year eve British follow a ritual about kiss. Gayatri says he speaks such good English and says she will fulfil the ritual. When she comes to know about the ritual she denies fulfilling it. Rana ji says he will.
Vajendra calls them from upstairs but only Rana ji was visible to them. They tell Rana ji Surmi is missing, maybe she ran away with that lover. Gayatri tells Rana ji he must not tell anyone about it.
Kartik and Surmi were still in the palace, Kartik tells Surmi that they will start a new phase of their life. They were about to run away. Rana ji comes there and asks how dare he tried to kidnap Surmi. Gayatri stops him saying they love each other. Rana ji says this guy must speak to Surmi’s brothers. He asks Surmi to come with him. Surmi says her brothers are only worried about their respect, they aren’t ready to marry Surmi with Kartik. Rana ji says he will speak to Surmi’s brothers. Gayatri says to Rana ji that he can’t take her to her brothers. Kartik surrenders in front of Rana ji and tells him not to take Surmi with him.
They hear Vajendra instructing a guard that she ruined their respect, they must find Surmi and kill her. Rana ji feels determined.
Vajeshdra goes outside, Rana ji was getting into a cart. Vajendra follows the other cart saying they must be in the other one. There was Rana ji in the cart he had followed. Rana ji says he is going to temple but where he Vajendra going with the sword. Vajendra says he wasn’t to kill Surmi who has run away with that man. Rana ji tells him not to do this. Vajendra goes to follow the other cart, Rana ji says he couldn’t stay silent for two lovers.
Surmi and Kartik hug in the cart. He says there is Shiv’s mandir nearby, they will marry there. Then no one would be able to separate them.
It was Rajeshwari who was driving the cart. She hungs herself with a tree branch when she watches a mountains ending. Kartik wonders why the cart is going super fast, he goes to see there was no driver. The cart door had been locked. They panic watching the cliff. Kartik says they must jump from here. Kartik says if their love isn’t fulfilled in this year, it will in the next year for sure. Rajeshwari jumps thinking Rana ji has died, now no one can stop Gayatri going as a gift to her brother. The cart fell off the cliff, Kartik and Surmi goes down together, looking at each other.
In the palace, Rajeshwari thinks about the cart getting destroyed as she watched Rana ji and Gayatri together in the party. She thinks fate will not always be with them, she will have to do something else soon.Kunwar ji announces that it has been a ritual of palace that New Year is celebrated each year. But this year it is special in the sense that he has invited a singer and dancer who takes care of everyone. Raaj Mata prays that today’s celebrations end well. Rana ji and Gayatri enjoy the performance. At the end of performance, Raaj Mata looks around to see Sartaj as the drummer.
He looks at her and goes inside, Raaj Mata follows him.Rana ji goes forwards towards the stage and appreciates the dancer’s performance. He presents her with a gift.
Raaj Mata asks Sartaj how dare he came to the palace, she can get him killed here. Sartaj tells Raaj Mata Avdesh found him in his first attempt and offered good money. Raaj Mata asks if he disclosed. Sartaj says he wouldn’t be a Raaj Mata had he told it, he has hidden this secret for years.
Gayatri goes to look for Raaj Mata.
Sartaj says he knows such stubborn people, he won’t back up. Raaj Mata asks where he is right now. Sartaj says he thought Avdesh would have reached here.
Raaj Mata says Avdesh never does what people expect. She offers her locket to Sartaj, Sartaj says he can’t be sold, else he would have taken money from Avdesh. Sartaj says now is the time to tell the truth to everyone, and they will tell it to everyone by themselves.Gayatri comes at the doorway and asks Sartaj who he is. Raaj Mata interferes that he is a companion of Baray Rana ji. She introduces Gayatri as Rani of Amirkot to Sartaj, they wish each other. Gayatri asks Sartaj to meet Rana ji but Raaj Mata says he has come from a long way and must return now.
Raaj Mata leaves with Sartaj, Gayatri thinks her behavior was really awkward.
The guests ask for Raaj Mata, Rana ji goes to check her. Gayatri was coming downstairs, Rana ji stops her and asks if she remembers the British ritual. Gayatri asks him to let her go, he says he didn’t hold her hand to let her go. Gayatri says he only remembers the shameful rituals of British. Rana ji asks if she dislikes them. Gayatri smiles and then leaves.
Rajeshwari watched this from upstairs, Raaj Mata comes and asks Rajeshwari to pack her bag. As soon as Avdesh returns, they must leave the palace. Rajeshwari says Avdesh is resting inside. Raaj Mata says he isn’t in the palace, she knows about it but they both will have to leave the palace as soon as he returns.
Swarna was in her room thinking she misses Laakhan even during celebrations. Where he would be? Should she go to look for him. She remembers when she was ill and he had slept besides her bed, sitting with her hand in his all night. In the morning, he checked her temperature when Laksh came inside to confront him. He told Laksh to speak in a low voice, Swarna is ill. Laksh insisted that this is his room, and he is here to take care of her. Lakhan had said if Laksh was able to take care of her, he wouldn’t have to come here. Kunwar ji came and told Laksh to leave Laakhan, he had scolded Laksh and asks Laakhan why he has forgotten where he was brought in the forest, else Cheetah’s not only prey but are preyed upon as well.
She thinks it is better Lakhan stay away from the palace.The doctor brought someone in the cart. He asked the rider to ride fast, he doesn’t want the last wish of the patient not be fulfilled and he wants to take his last breathes in palace. The cart stops outside the palace, and doctor and rider help someone out of it.Gayatri again meets Sartaj and says he is leaving without meeting Rana ji and eating something. Rana ji will really dislike if he leaves hungry. Raaj Mata tells Sartaj to eat something. Sartaj tells Gayatri he will take something. Gayatri leaves. Raaj Mata says she didn’t want Gayatri to fell in doubt, he must not eat and get lost.
Rana ji asks Gayatri whom she was talking to. The cart stops outside the palace, some men help the patient down the cart on a stretcher.
ebruary 2022: Rana ji asks Gayatri whom she had been talking to when there is an announcement for a performance and a young man comes to stage. Rana ji promises Gayatri that she has been his shield in the past year, now he will be her shield. No one can come between them now. Gayatri hugs Rana ji.The cart stops at the entry of palace. The guard comes inside and tells them there is someone who wants to take the last breathes in the palace.
The doctor comes to Rana ji and tells him he had no option, she hasn’t eaten anything for the last one month and says she is paying for her sins and will die in the same situation. Rana ji asks who she is. They put the stretcher down, it was Bari Rani Maa. Kunwar ji is shocked to see her. Gayatri remembers Bari Rani Maa’s behavior with her. Kunwar ji asks the doctor how his mother got in such a situation, he goes to sit beside the weak Bari Rani Maa. Kokilla tells Kunwar ji to let it go, Bari Rani Maa tries to stand up but the doctor prohibits her and helps her sit up. Bari Rani Maa stands up anyways with the help of doctor and Kunwar ji.
She joins her hands to Rana ji and apologizes him. She fell down again. Rana ji says to doctor he fulfilled his responsibility by bringing her here but he can’t allow her to stay here. Kunwar ji says she is his mother, his Bari Rani Maa. Rana ji tells them to take her to a hospital, there must be no exception in her treatment, and he will bear the expense. Bari Rani Maa says she wants to die amongst her owns. Rana ji says has come to the wrong place, there is none her own. He heads to leave. Gayatri stops him, she tells the guards to take Bari Rani Maa in the room. She tells Rana ji that no one ever returned empty handed from Rana ji’s palace. Amirkot Rana have always abide by their ethics, they will do today as well. Kunwar ji takes Bari Rani Maa inside.
Raaj Mata comes to the room and holds Bari Rani Maa’s hand. Bari Rani Maa says Raaj Mata has always been right, she still is. Raaj Mata tells her to sleep, she needs to rest and leaves.Rana ji was in the balcony when Raaj Mata comes to him. She says she knows what Rana ji is going through. Rana ji says how he can trust Bari Rani Maa, maybe it’s a trick again. Raaj Mata says she isn’t even sure, but she is with him in any decision and goes to bid farewell to guests.The doctor examines Bari Rani Maa and tells Kunwar ji she isn’t in a condition to talk. Kunwar ji was crying, he tells the doctor to bring her to a condition to speak.
He can see anything, but not his mother in pain. He asks doctor to do anything, if he can’t reduce her pain then free her from it. Laksh tells Kunwar ji to control himself and allow the doctor to complete his treatment. The doctor says she doesn’t have much time, and gives her an injection.
Raaj Mata asks Sartaj what he is doing here. Sartaj says he stopped by seeing that old woman who is repenting her sins. He has been living with this secret inside her, he wants to get rid of this burden. Raaj Mata says that the old lady is the biggest enemy of Rana ji and palace, she can do much worse if she knows about the secret. She says it is better Sartaj leaves as truth has neither place nor time here.
Gayatri comes in Bari Rani Maa’s room with tears in eyes, and takes her hand. Bari Rani maa apologizes her, she is her sinner. Her hand drops off Gayatri’s hand, Gayatri asks Bari Rani Maa what she is saying. Bari Rani Maa says the sun is setting, she is leaving. She wants to see Rana ji for one last time. The doctor checks on her, and announces it is useless. He says no injection or medicine can save her, she only has a few breathes now. Gayatri hurries outside.
Rana ji tells the guard to stay outside the room of Bari Rani Maa. He comes to his room when Gayatri comes there. She says she is leaving, any moment can be the last moment.
Before she leaves him must atleast meet her? Rana ji says he can’t forgive her. Gayatri says they know it well he won’t be able to forgive himself if she dies. She says that in this country it is an honor to have elders in house. Rana ji asks no matter how the elders might be. Gayatri says he must have done mistakes in childhood, didn’t she forgive him? She requests him to let a grandmother meet her grandson.Kunwar ji asks Bari Rani Maa not to be stubborn, but Bari Rani Maa calls Rana ji and thinks about his childhood. Rana ji heads towards the room, he enters the room and calls Bari Rani Maa whose hands drop at once on the bed.
Rana ji sits beside her in shock, she was still. Kokilla, Gayatri and everyone cries. Rana ji asks her to get up, he has come to her. He asks her to speak something, forgive him and get up. Bari Rani Maa blinks her eye, her hand moved. Gayatri watches this and says she is alive, she has seen movement in her eyes and hands. Rana ji stands up, the doctor examines her and says this is miracle. God has returned Bari Rani Maa to them. Rana ji calls her and asks her to talk to him, he is here. Bari Rani Maa says she can now die peacefully as he has forgiven her. Rana ji says he won’t let her die. The doctor says she is really weak and needs rest. Kunwar ji gets to Rana ji’s feet, Rana ji asks him to stand up.
