Once there was a king 14 March 2022: Rajeshwari comes to Kaal who was getting a massage, she complains if she doesn’t have any respect in front of outsiders people will mock her. She sits beside him, and wants to be with him everywhere. Bari Rani Maa doesn’t take her anywhere. Kaal asks what she wants. Rajeshwari says she wants to go to Nari Niketan and wants to be a part of the work there. Kaal allows her, and orders the servant to carry on his massage.
Rani holds an apple from the table, Bari Rani Maa hits her hand. Rani asks why she hit her, if she had to steal she would have taken hidden. Bari Rani Maa says in palace one only gets salary. Rani says she would get it at the end of the month, she wants to have fruits right now. She tells Bari Rani Maa that country is now independent and anyone can have fruits. Another maid comes to apologize Bari Rani maa shutting Rani’s mouth.
Raaj Mata request the lady to let her work here, but the manager pushes her. Rajeshwari enters then, and hatefully look towards meagre being then questions the manager why she disrespected her, she is old and must be given her job back. Raaj Mata had hidden her face in veil at once and wonders about her luck.Raja asks Rani to be his friend, she saved him when his father, the monster had scolded her already. Rani agrees finally as Raja offers her his bat as well. Rani promises to take him somewhere he would be happy.
Amrita prepares food for Raja, Bari Rani Maa comes to her. Amrita was afraid at once. Bari Rani Maa forbids Amrita to feed Raja with sweets, but with meat only if he has to be a lion. Kokilla overhears this. Bari Rani Maa announces that from today she takes the responsibility of Raja’s feed over herself. She leaves, Kokilla follows her.
Raaj Mata stood on a side as Jeewan helps Rajeshwari distribute grain bags to the ladies. Jeewan points her, and calls her here. He wonders why that old lady is in veil. Rajeshwari goes to her with the bag, the manager stops Rajeshwari and informs her about Raaj mata’s TB.
She herself was also reluctant to go near her, but finally takes the bag to Raaj Mata and leave inside.
Kokilla comes to Bari Rani Maa forbidding her have sweets. She asks why she teases Amrita so much, and Raja is a weak boy. Bari Rani Maa wanted to make that weak plant to become a strong tree. She instills hatred in Raja’a heart for Kaal. He will keep his fire controlled, and when at the right time it will ignite it will blast even that Kaal.
Raja comes to Rani’s friends to play cricket. Rani introduces him as her friend, Raja forwards his hand towards them. They all come to hug him. Raja was elated and enjoys playing with them.
In the car, Jeewan speaks to Rajeshwari about the old lady. Rajeshwari scolds him. The car passes by the children where Raja had been playing with Rani, the servant. Rajeshwari orders to stop the car, driver questions the kids if Raja had been playing but the children deny. Rajeshwari slaps Jeewan for making it up. Rani offers Raja to meet her family, but she must do something with his clothes, no one here must know he is from palace.
Raaj Mata comes home, Lakhan asks where he had been. Raaj Mata tells him she was in temple. Rani comes with Raja, and introduces him as his friend. Raja touches the feet of Raaj Mata and Lakhan.
Lakhan asks Raja where he lives, Raja says Palace. Rani qualifies behind the palace, in a distant village. She asks something to eat.Jeewan insists on Rajeshwari but she was irritated. Kaal comes there, Jeewan asks Kaal to call Raja, if he wasn’t there in playground he must be in the palace. Kaal orders Amrita to bring Raja wherever he is. Rani brings Raja for food, Raja wasn’t used to sit on floor for food. Raaj Mata asks how he eats at home. Raja says on dining table. Rani qualifies his father is a school teacher.
Raja didn’t know how to eat with hands, Rani shows him how to eat with hands. He tries to follow her. She asks if he enjoys this.Kaal scolds Amrita for being a bad mother. Rajeshwari has been a good mother and wife. Kaal asks Jeewan where he saw them. He sends the servants to look for Raja and bring him home. Raja had fallen asleep with Rani, Lakhan thought about dropping him home. Raaj Mata says they must not disturb his sleep.
Lakhan hears Kokilla with the guards, he rushes home and informs Raaj Mata that the guards have been searching each home. Raaj Mata hides Rani and Raja forbidding them to come out. The guards bring all the village children, Lakhan was afraid what if they recognize her.
Raaj Mata wonders what if Rajeshwari recognized her, what if they find out she is alive.Raja explains to Rani that his family, especially his father must be worried for him. Kokilla and the guards knock at the door, they enter to look around. The guards come inside and takes Raja along with him. Rani hugs Raaj Mata praying for safety of Raja.Kaal harasses and beats Amrita for bringing Raja as a coward, weak man. He forbids her come in front of him again. Rajeshwari comes with a drink in hand and offers it to him. She tells him nothing has ruined yet, Jeewan has already seen Raja.
There is none of Kaal’s mistake, Bari Rani Maa is old and is changed now; she is tired and weak now. Bari Rani Maa hears about it. Rajeshwari says Jeewan has all the qualities of a prince, but Raja has nothing worth being prince. Kaal clutches Rajeshwari’s jaw instead and forbids her forget her worth. She is just a second woman for him, Raja is his son and only he has a right to punish him. The guard come to inform him Raja has returned. Amrita hugs Raja and shows concern for him. Kaal comes from behind and keeps a hand over his shoulder. He says today the prince of Amirkot has arrived as a beggar. He drags Raja along, Amrita runs behind but he locks her outside.
In the room, Raja was afraid and apologizes Kaal. Kaal tells Raja it takes a whole life to become a Prince from a wild animal, he did it. It takes only years to become a prince from a beggar, but he only took hours to become beggar from a prince. He takes his stick and beats Raja. Bari Rani Maa and Kokilla watch this from outside, Bari Rani Maa says that in childhood it only hurts on soul when beaten on body. The badly Kaal beats Raja today, the more hatred Raja will have for Kaal. Amrita comes to plead Bari Rani Maa who comes with her and gets the door opened. Kaal leaves at her call.
Bari Rani Maa applies ointment on Raja’s bruises.
Bari Rani Maa calls Kaal a wild animal, she will make him so strong that he will be able to counter Kaal again. Raja thinks about Rani’s words, and tells Bari Rani Maa he would never go against Kaal, he is his father and would always love him. If a stone isn’t beaten with hammer, it can never turn to an idol. Bari Rani Maa asks where he has heard all this. Raja smiles, from Rani. He appreciates her family, and tells Bari Rani Maa she lives with her grandmother and father. Bari Rani Maa wonders if it’s possible, Rani is the ignited torn piece of the fire she blew long time ago.Rani was worried about Raja and heads to go out. Raaj Mata stops her, she tells Lakhan about Rajeshwari.
Lakhan asks Raaj Mata why she went to Nari Nikhetan. Raaj Mata confesses about working there.Jeewan comes to Kaal, he was tensed. He heads to leave when Raja was coming inside. Jeewan tells Kaal its bad time, Raja comes inside and apologizes Kaal. Kaal forgives him and offers him to eat apple. Bari Rani Maa watches this curtly. Rajeshwari comes inside to find her upset. Rajeshwari was also upset, she reminds Bari Rani Maa that Kaal cannot be loyal to anyone. If she is nothing for him, even after being his child’s mother; what is Bari Rani Maa’s worth? Bari Rani Maa tells her that a worth has to be earned. Right now she has to blow out a common girl to turn a flame, Rajeshwari wonders what a common girl can do to them.
Bari Rani Maa insists that years ago it was a common girl who ruined her life, she snatched her trust, position, power and her hand. Today there is a common girl again, her name is Rani.Raja and Bari Rani Maa come to Rani’s house. Rani cheers watching Raja but was shocked to see Bari Rani Maa. Raja tells Rani she came to thanks her, she has taught him so much that Kaal forgave him today. Rani whispers into Raja’s ears not to tell her grandmother that she works in the palace. Bari Rani Maa comes to the door, peeks inside and wonders why this fragrance is a known one, as if she is going to meet an old friend. She steps inside the house, Raaj Mata, Lakhan and Rani’s photo was kept beside a wall.
Bari Rani Maa asks Rani about her grandmother and Lakhan, Rani explains they have gone out. She didn’t know the names of both. She tells Bari Rani Maa her real name is Rani Gayatri.Rani holds the frame and Bari Rani Maa isn’t able to see it. There outside, a lady holds Rani in her arms inquiring if she had food in time. Bari Rani Maa thinks her to be Rani’s mother. Raja takes Bari Rani Maa away as he didn’t want Rani’s secret about working in palace disclose. Raaj Mata also jerks her false thoughts out of mind.Bari Rani maa, in her room, wonders when would Kaal get old and become an enemy of Kaal.
Kaal comes in and considers Bari Rani maa’s brought up responsible for change in Raja. He assures to become a good father for him now. Bari Rani Maa thinks its Rani’s company that is spoiling Raja.In the kitchen, Rani comes to the other maid Gulabo who felt dizzy. Gulabo says she is really hungry. Rani offers her peanuts and helps her in cleaning of the floor.Raaj Mata apologizes the manager not being able to work anymore. The manager tells Raaj Mata she is about to win the gift, and must not back out. She can get a gift worth 300 at the end of the month. The other ladies heard about this.
Rani serves food to everyone. Kaal calls Raja towards him. Rani was happy. Kaal asks him to read the English poem. Rani nods at him. Raja smiles and reads the poem about appreciation of love. They all clap fascinated. Kaal appreciates Raja, and boasts about his son. He gifts money to Raja. Rajeshwari slaps Jeewan and takes him inside. Amrita comes to Raja and caresses him. Gulabo comes and fell down nearby. Rani and other servants come to help her, Bari Rani Maa says she just fall down. Rani tells her she hasn’t eaten since morning. Bari Rani Maa says servants here only eat once in this palace, she must only bring water for her.
Rani argues when so much quantity of food is cooked, why servants can’t eat more than once although they work all day long. Bari Rani Maa comes to her and tells her that masters are masters and servants are always servant. She takes Raja along.
In the room, Rajeshwari tells Jeewan that now he has become the second brother, she has to become better than Raja in everything.A servant gets a file to Kaal saying it contains the thumb prints of all the people who have mortgaged their lands to Amirkot’s govt. He is safe if this file is save. Jeewan watches this. He comes to be friends with Raja, Raja demands him to do friendship with his friends too.
He comes to shake hands with Rani as well and asks to play a game with him. Jeewan challenges everyone to keep hand over burning candle for the longest. The girls back up, but Jeewan challenges Raja and shows him his turn. He gives Raja his turn, Bindu stops Raja but he accepts the challenge. Rani also forbids Raja, but Jeewan calls him coward. Rani leaves with Bindu. Raja insists he isn’t a coward, Jeewan burns the candle. Kaal was coming towards the room, Raja holds his hand over the candle. Jeewan stares at him for a while, then drops the candle over the file and run away. Raja tries to blow out the fire caught by file, Kaal reaches there enraged over Raja. Jeewan enjoys the insult.
Kaal beats him with his stick. Rani puts ointment over his bruises, and asks if he can’t think with his brain? Jeewan can never be better, why he didn’t tell Kaal about it? Raja says its of no use. Rani was determined not to stay silent and leaves.
