Once there was a King 5 January 2022: Kokilla cries in front of Kunwar ji that she has lost again, it is the wedding night. Kunwar ji tells her to plan something, still there is time. If the wedding night takes place and the heir comes, they will never be able to get the royal seat. Kokilla still cries, Kunwar ji caresses and dances with her. Kokilla says that today she will plan something that will never let Gayatri give an heir to this family. She turns to see Raaj Mata standing at the door. Behind her, in the veil was another lady.
Kokilla asks Raaj Mata why she came here and says she didn’t say anything wrong. Raaj Mata says she is the princess of Amirkot, how can she be wrong. She asks Kokilla that she wants to speak to her alone. Kokilla remembers when Raaj mata had taken her alone in the function as well.
Raaj Mata holds Kokilla’s hand and takes her. The lady in the veil was peeking through the door, then goes away when Raaj Mata takes Kokilla through the corridor. Raaj mata takes Kokilla to a dark room and locks her, Kokilla pleads her, Raaj Mata says she had warned her not to plan something else. Kokilla says she didn’t plan anything, but Raaj mata says she has done enough and now she doesn’t want their wedding night to take place. Now she will stay inside the room until the wedding night takes place. She says to Kokilla that she is alive only because she is family, because family is like a body, any injured part has to be treated not cut. She warns further saying if the poison spreads, the finger has to be cut. Raaj Mata orders a guard that no one must open the door even on Rana ji’s orders.
Raaj Mata gives the dress to Swarna and Gayatri and says she wants Gayatri to get ready in her best way and goes to prepare a Lape (herbal ointment) as Rana ji is much injured. Gayatri goes to make a Lape for Rana ji.
A servant goes to bring ointment for Rana ji, Gayatri comes there and knocks the door. Rana ji calls to put on the Lape. She wonders how he knows she has brought the ointment, then puts it on his wounds. Rana ji had shut his eyes, Gayatri felt pain for him. She asks if the pain has gone. He opens his eyes and holds her hand, he asks why she came here, she shouldn’t have. Gayatri says she is sorry, she knows that before wedding night she shouldn’t have come to his room.
He leaves her hand on the name of wedding night. Gayatri runs away, Rana ji looks at Surakshna’s photo and leaves as well. The veiled lady comes to Rana ji’s room and takes her dress box from his room.
Gayatri runs to her room, Swarna asks where she was. She takes the bowl from her and takes her. Kokilla called for help inside the room as she was feeling afraid. She cries that no one helps her ever in time.The veiled lady takes the dress box through the corridor.
Swarna helps Gayatri with her makeup and jewelry. She shows Gayatri the new necklace that was really beautiful. She tells Gayatri to change and leaves the room. Gayatri looks at all the things. The lady in veil enters the room from behind her, replaces the box of her dress and hides under the couch. Gayatri turns but couldn’t find anyone. Gayatri opens the box of her dress and asks she watches the dress the lady finds time to leave the room.
Gayatri thinks this is a beautiful dress, she will thank Raaj Mata for sure. She goes to change the dress, Swarna says that she is the first Raani who has given a leave to her maids. Gayatri says she wants to thank her, she is her friend in this strange palace and is helping her get ready. Gayatri asks Swarna if Surakshna was beautiful. Swarna says she wasn’t a part of the palace then, but she is sure Surakshna must not be beautiful than her. Gayatri asks if he will like her. Swarna reassures that he will like her a lot.
Rana ji watched the old album with Surakshna, her wall photographs. She had asked Rana ji how she looks in this dress, beautiful or very very beautiful. He had said she looks really beautiful, it seems it has been made for her. She reminds him it has been designed for her, she won’t share it with anyone. Rana ji said he won’t allow anyone to touch what belongs to her.
Rana ji throws the album and breaks the clock. Raaj mata comes behind and says that anger is of no use, time keeps on going. Rana ji says he hasn’t denied to go on with time, but he isnt ready to go on another way. Rana ji says to Raaj Mata that he knows why she came here, he will never celebrate a wedding night with Gayatri. Raaj Mata says he fought with British Resident officer for the Gayatri. Rana ji corrects her that it was for Raani Gayatri Devi’s respect. He is liable for her respect as a queen but not liable to give her a right of wife. He leaves.
The veiled lady burns the dress box of Gayatri she had replaced, outside the palace. Raaj Mata was worried about something wrong, she thinks about speaking to Rana ji. She looks back to see Rana ji walking towards Gayatri’s room. Kunwar ji also watches him go there. He says wedding night is going to take place here, he could know nothing about Kokilla. Rana ji passes the room Kokilla was locked in, but Kokilla wasn’t at the door.
Swarna leaves Gayatri on the decorated bed, Rana ji enters the room and is enraged to see Gayatri in Surakshna’s dress. Gayatri was nervous, she thinks she is afraid but when Rana ji is with her, she doesn’t need to get afraid. Rana ji thinks he never thought Gayatri will do such an act, he must speak to her and tell her the truth. Gayatri wants the time to stop and wants to capture the moments. Rana ji thinks he will never forgive her today as she tried to take the place of his Surakshna. He walks towards the bed, drags Gayatri out of the bed. She is shocked, he says she did what she shouldn’t have done today. Gayatri asks what she did. Rana ji press her arm tight and says she mocked his pain today and pushes her away of his sight. Gayatri turns to look at his back with teary eyes, and asks what she has done. She apologizes for anything wrong but asks what she did.
Rana ji laughs and says she seems to be really innocent whatever be in her heart. He says that she played such tricks to win the crown of Amirkot. Today, she wants to win his love, they are Rajputs who attack on the chest. He asks her to attack him on his chest. Gayatri asks what he is saying, she didn’t play any trick. She only loves him and thinks him to be a lover only. She says if he is angry at her it is alright, the ones who love have this right. Rana ji asks if she really thinks he loves her, she is lying to herself. He says in this relation there was neither any love, nor there will be.
Neither she loves him nor will he ever do. He says he only hates her. Gayatri asks hate? Rana ji says yes, because she hid her reality to him, she lied and made up to come close to him. Today she made a drama of his pain, today they only have a relation of hatred. Gayatri is shocked at this revelation. Rana ji gets away from her. Gayatri asks if he hates her, why he married her. Rana ji turns around and asks which wedding is she talking about, she knows well he didn’t put sindoor in her head partition, nor he ever will. He says that she is the queen of Amirkot but not his wife. Gayatri stops him but he asks her to let him go, so that he doesn’t do anything in rage that he has to regret. Gayatri asks if he didn’t love her, why in reply to her letter, he sent his mother with the proposal. Rana ji says he didn’t get any letter, nor he sent Raaj Mata with the proposal. He says he only got to know about it after this all had been decided, but she knew all this.
Gayatri says if there wasn’t any love, why he fought for her with Wilkinsons, if there wasn’t love why he put on the crown at her head himself, why he gifted her that bangle. Rana ji says he gave her that bangle only because he didn’t know he was going to marry her. He saved her from drowning as a human being only and would have done for anyone. As for Mr. Wilkinsons he was only saving the respect of Rani Gayatri Devi, which is his responsibility.
Gayatri asks there wasn’t any love there. Rana ji says love was never there. He thanks her for saving his life when the idol was falling on him that day, he would regret his life is owed by someone like her. He holds her again and says he doesn’t know if she really thinks he loves her or if she is doing a drama, but they both are like two strangers who will never be one. He says this relation is only of a Raja and Raani. He pushes Gayatri away and leaves the room. Gayatri is shocked and thinks Rana ji never loved her, not for a moment even. She runs out of her room, into the corridor. Kunwar ji thinks the wedding night has been better than what he had thought. He must give the good news to everyone.
The veiled lady was doing Pooja.
Gayatri runs through the palace.
The lady keeps on praying, throws colour in air and raises her hands.
Gayatri runs downstairs, out of the main door of palace.
The veiled lady laughs loud, celebrating victory.
It was raining heavily, Gayatri stops in the garden, Rana ji’s words still echo in her mind.
Gayatri runs out of the palace into rain, remembering each and every word of hatred by Rana ji. She sits down on the wet mud, crying. She thinks she was crazy, she thought that dreams have become reality. Rana ji doesn’t love her. She doesn’t want to be a queen. She was happy at her father’s place, when he didn’t have to put in sindoor why he took the seven rounds of weddings with her. Rana ji drags her up, she jerks his hand away. She says she doesn’t need his support.
Rana ji asks Rani Gayatri Devi, where is she going. Gayatri says that a girl is related to her in laws because of her husband, when husband doesn’t own her what is her need here. She wants to go home. Rana ji says this is her home now, whatever she is doing doesn’t suit a Rani. Gayatri says she isn’t a Rani, she is a common girl. Rana ji holds her hand and says he will drop her by himself, but not in this condition. He drops the umbrella and gets wet with her as he drags her inside the palace. Kunwar ji looks for Kokilla, Kokilla comes there. He asks where she was. Kokilla says she was locked. They both see Rana ji and Gayatri entering the palace.
Kokilla wonders where Gayatri got this dress. Kunwar ji asks if she? Raaj Mata also comes there. Rana ji announces that Gayatri wants to go back home, he is getting the preparations done for her to leave. Rana ji leaves, Raaj Mata says to Gayatri that she wants to speak to her in loneliness. Kunwar ji says this was her reason of going to hiding, she has played well. Kokilla thinks that it was her idea but someone else played it.
