Our perfect place 31 March 2020: Govardhan and ila are incredibly tensed as to how niranjan and rita are having trouble in their marriage. they remember the way they fought, and discuss how niranjan was supposedly their most innocent child, and yet he screwed up like this. he says that this makes them feel as if they dont know their sons at all.

she asks him to think about rita, as she wont be able to be at ease when she finds rita depressed and distraught like that. he asks her to let time decide the course of action and not worry herself. she is tensed still. meanwhile, rita cries herself to sleep.
The next morning, as ila plays with the kids, rita coems and serves her tea. rita apologises for waking up late, as she slept late last night. ila says that its perfectly fine and normal. While she is aminatedly bantering, about how ila has pampered the kids, ila talks about how much they lovwe her. they both smile. then ila hesitatingly brings up the topic of how late they too slept last night, cititng a film, that matches rita’s condition. she starts talking about them in the pretext of the story of the film. Ila talks to rita that she shouldnt let misunderstanding creep in their relationship. rita asks what if the father gets to know. she says that he will talk to someone else. rita stoically responds back saying what should she do, if all the misunderstandings were true. ila is speechless, as rita laves. ila wonders how to make her understand, as her son is really at fault, and wonders why she met this fate.
Later, Niranjan’s friend comes to meet him, and points out how lucky he is to have landed a stay in this house. niranjan gets tensed. he asks about rita, and niranjan tells him that she has gone for audition. rahul comes with the kids ready for school, and asks their father to tell ila that he has gone. his friend again comments on his luxury and worklessness here. niranjan fumes. govardhan comes and talks to niranjan about his room. after he leaves, niranjan talks about the pressures of being in a joint family. his friend asks if he has gone nuts. niranjan says that govardhan has a big family as it is. his friend then starts talking business, again bringing up the topic of joint family, and its perks, irking niranjan.
When niranjan calls, rita refuses to pick up, while she is getting ready. he calls yet again, and she sends the makeup artist out, and then receives asking him if everything is okay in the house, and if it is, then she neednt talk to him. he is tensed as she abruptly cancels. he tries yet again and she picks up, saying that she doesnt wish to talk. he says that he heard, but still he is insistent in calling, only because he still loves her, and he hasnt lied to her. when she doesnt respond, he begs her to talk. she then blurts out, that they have had this talk so many times, that they dont have anything new to talk. he tries to talk, but she says that nothing has changed between them and his talks wont change anything, so he neednt bother trying.
he says that he cant bear whats going on, her taunts and her anger directed at him, and he cant live like this. she asks him to think about it, before he started the love affair. she cancels. he tries to vent out his anger but himself gets hurt.
Scene 2:
Location: Gayatri’s house
While parimal is working, he gets a call from Sameer, asking about the passport, whether its with him, as he submitted for a loan, from his bank. he asks whats the matter, after parimal denies that he doesnt have it. sameer says that he needed it. parimal says that maybe govardhan has it, and asks him why he needs it. sameer says that nothing is finalised yet, and abruptly begins to cancel, when parimal taunts him as to how he used to talk to him, when he needed a loan from the bank, but not now, when his work with him is done. a frustrated sameer asks him to talk like this with niranjan, as he doesnt like it. parimal cancels and fumes.
Scene 3:
Location: Gharaunda
Outside in the gardens, govardhan is watering the plants, when he calls up Rahul. he resignedly complies. he shows rahul a particular tree of mangoes, trying to small talk. when rahul begins to leave, govardhan asks where is he going. he cites some work. govardhan asks what work could he have, as he just has to pick up the kids. he suggests that they can take care of the house together, and he can take the responsibility of watering the plants. he starts lecturing, while rahul hears tensedly. as he turns around, he finds rahul gone, and laments at his situation. Inside, rahul helps out his mother with something, while ila goes out to work on something else. niranjan comes and intentionally starts taunting him, and rahul retorts back with a befitting reply, which irks niranjan. he asks rahul whats he doing here, as he sold his ego, and is mooching off his brother. ila comes and starts reprimanding niranjan for talking to his little brother like that, and that all four sons have equal right on everything, and they should not talk like this. niranjan leaves with a taunt. ila asks rahul not to feel bad, as she finds him tensed. then she goes after niranjan, while rahul controls back his tears.
ila comes to nirajan and starts reprimanding him for making rahul’s stay more difficult, when he so badly agreed. niranjan asks if they dont have importance since they came easily. she asks if he taunted enough, and says that rahul is going through a difficult time, and if they dont support, then who will. niranjan says that he isnt the only one having problems, but she is least bothered. Ila says that she understands his difficult times, as she finds him sleeping every day outside, leaving his room, and asks him who was that girl, whom he wanted to marry.
he is tensed and turns to ask, if rita told her. she asks him to trust his wife, as whatsoever he is, she never speaks ill of him. she asks the response. he clarifies, that the girl used to work when he had his computer business. she asks him why he didnt tell them, and he responds that she had left him, when his computer business sank. she asks why. he asks her not to worry, as its small and long forgotten. she says that this small thing, has become big for their marriage and she has full right to know, as its caused strain. he says that their relationship ended, as she wanted someone secure and financially stable. she asks if she did find. he denies. she says that this means she is still unmarried. he says maybe. she asks him to answer properly. he says that there is no affair, if thats what she wants to know, and that after two years, he accidentally met her, at a coffee shop and he explained everything to rita, but she doesnt believe.
ila says that he did lie to her and to this family too, and they are bound to react like that. she tells him point blank, that if he tries to cause rita harm or hurt her at all, then she wouldnt spare him at all.
Niranjan fumes, as ila vents out her frustration at him, for being so callous in him comments. she warns him to improve himself and then leaves. niranjan fumes. then he gets sameer’s call, asking about the passport and he gives the phone to ila, who says that she shall talk to govardhan and find out. later, when govardhan and ila are about to retire for the night, he informs her, that sameer can have it in 3, 4 days after he gets it from the bank locker. she asks him to find out where is sameer planning to go, but he says that if he wishes, then sameer would tell himself, otherwise he doesnt want to smother them yet again by interfering too much. she tensedly complies. they both dose off.
At night someone knocks on their room, and they are shocked to wonder who is it at 2 in the night. he opens the door to find rahul completely drunk. seeing him, she rushes to take him to the room, but he wishes to talk to him, and then tells govardhan that he isnt the gardener of this house, that he waters the plants everyday, as he has done an MBA. to avoid any confrontration, she begins to take him, but he stands there and says that his idea of a happy family shall never be fulfilled, and also tells him that niranjan should be told that he stays at his own father’s house, and not niranjan’s and then says that the person who doesnt have food, money or employment, where would he go, if not at their parent’s. she asks him to stop, but he says that he too feels the pain, of being a burden on his family. she forcibly takes him from there and then puts him to sleep in his room. after pulling the drapes on him, she begins to go, when he holds her hand and says that he loves her, and she is divine. she asks him to go to sleep. he again reminds that he isnt a gardener. she gets emotional after putting him to sleep, as she eyes him.
The next morning, rahul wakes up as ila splashes cold water on his face. he wakes up alarmed, and finds he standing scornfully. she then reprimands him for his repeated mistake, which sound intentional now. he has a headache. she says that she knows he drinks, and cant suddenly leave it, and she has come to terms with that, but he needs to leave his behaviour, after he drinks, or else leave her. he is shocked. she is angry. he makes her sit down and says that they have problems with the father, but the truth is he doesnt hide it. she says that this is between him and his father, why should she be sandwiched. he says that he understands, and says that last night wasnt anger, but frustration, directed at himself and his joblessness. she asks whats his fault if the company shut down. he says that they are all excuses, and says that if she is so angry, then he wont live here. she reprimands him yet again. he hugs her. Later, rahul smilingly gets water for govardhan, while he is gardening, and then helps him too in the work. ila watches from the balcony happily.
In their room, ila talks about the acting job over the phone, with someone, sipping tea, while niranjan is getting ready. he fumes that she is drinking tea, but didnt give it to him. as she leaves for some work, he finds the chance to gulp down some tea and then hurriedly rushes back to his place. as she comes back, she finds the teacup empty and is boggled. he starts whistling carelessly, and comes to her, while she eyes him scornfully. she is shocked that he can be comical even in fights.
Later, govardhan is talking to his daughter Devyani on the phone. after exchanging the casual greetings, ila talks to her, and gets worried while doing so. devyani says that she shall talk later. she complies and cuts down the phone. he asks whats the matter. she says that she didnt say anything, but her tone suggested some tension to her, but she instinctively feels something is wrong. he asks her not to bother unnecessarily, and just then, they find Rita practising her drama, in the garden. they amusedly wtch, as she obliviously performs. she is embarassed as she eyes them watching her. ila comments humourously. rita talks about the opening of the drama next week, and that all of them have to come. they happily complies. rita talks about learning to cook in the kitchen, and they happiyl comply.
In the kitchen, they animatedly banter, while rita and ila prepare govardhan’s favourite dish. just then, gayatri comes, and all are happily amused. gossiping starts. rita starts feeling left out, as gayatri and ila have a happy reunion and animatedly bantering, obliviously ignoring her and her scorn. she slightly feels pangs of jealousy. rita silently leaves, while they are too engrossed to notice. At the dining table, all compliment gayatri, as she took over preparing the dish. rita doesnt like it, as it was her idea. gayatri comments on how cute they look together. ila and govardhan retort back smilingly. all are amused, except for rita, who feels out of place. he then turns to rita and says that she was planning to make. gayatri apologises saying that she took over rita’s kitchen and apologises. rita asks her not to bother as she shall try some other day. ila asks about uday, and gayatri says that he loves his hostel life. Gayatri sits to eat with rita, govardhan and ila. rita ask her about parimal. she says that everything is okay but he has grown more irritable, and when asked if he didnt stop her, and she amusedly says that she didnt ask, just told and went out. but then she asks him how long shall this go on like this, and they need to sort it out anyhow. govardhan says that he too had thought the same, but he doesnt think it shall end so soon. all are tensed.
In her room, niranjan fumes, while rita walks while rehearsing her dialogues. While walking, with papers in her hand, rita accidentally slips and as fate would have it, niranjan dives right in to scoop her in his arms. they have a romantic eyelock, and they both smile at each other, as romance and love ensues. The screen freezes on their smiling faces.
Niranjan and rita have their usual squabbl yet again, but are tensed when they find gaytari, waiting for coming in, with tea. he leaves, while she sits and discusses rita’s problems with her, and then also apologises for taking over the kitchen. rita smiles, and thy amusedly banter for somemore time. gagyatri gets a stern call from parimal to come home.
While ila and govardhan sit outside, they talk about sameer and his urgent need for passport. Ramesh comes and talks to govardhan and ila about sameer and asks whether he has a girlfriend or not. they get tensed. she decides to call sameer and find out. but ehen she places the call, and asks him this, amusedly he gets tensed when asked this question. sameer talks to ila, while ramesh and govardhan discuss the same. he denies having any gf. she comes back and tells this, and they fix up a meeting for prospective bride, whose father happens to beRamesh’s friend. Later, when sameer comes, it ends in a disaster, when sameer gets to know of the fix-up and lashes at his father in front of everyone. theyleave, while ila reprimands him. he says that this is why he is leaving india forever. they are shocked, as he storms out, when his father says that he shall get it tomorrow, as he has to take it out from the bank locker. they are shaken up.
Niranjan continues to tautn rahul, as he is cleaning up the car, but govaredhan hears from the balcony, and thrashes niranjan who fumes and leaves. rahul is tensed though.
Scene 2:
Location: Parimal’s residence
When gayatri finds that parimal still fuems about her going back there, she takes up his role and makes him take hers, and then explains how he is always in a dilemma with the heart which wants her to go sometimes, but the mind whose ego stops him from doing so.
scene 3:
Location: Gharaunda
While bantering, ila is tensed of sameer going away forever, govardhan is irritated as to what to do now. she asks if she should talk to him. he says that they have done it earlier and learnt the lesson the hard way. she says that it was her mistake, but he fumes that he doesnt wish to talk and leaves. she is tensd.
Later, rahul is miffed when ila gets food for him, and assures her that sameer would return back soon. she asks if he is pacifying her. he says that he is helpless as he cant stop her nor take away her sadness. she asks him to eat. but he says that he doesnt feel like it. she asks whats the matter. he says that niranjan still taunts. she asks him not to bother about his comments. he says that he does feel to be sitting idle at times. she asks him to think of it as a passing phase. she feeds him herself, and then they start talking as to how it must be boring for him to stay in home the whole day. he says that he too wants to go out, but all his friends work, and he has noone else. she is tensed that her sons maybe with her, but still unhappy.
